when I was very young
still a small child
before becoming a teenager
I used to repeat a mind phrase
creating a personal mantra
repeated over and over spoken
into the essential core of my being
'I am a rock
I am strong
show no emotion'
let adversity wash over me
like water over a rock
in years to come
in earthquakes of adversity
I did not fracture crack break
in years to come
in tsunami waves of adversity
I was never washed away
winds did blow sands of time
polished away rough edges
the rock became surface smooth
weathered the tests of time
polished granite shaped sculptured
is a statue standing in testament
to an urge an artistic vision
to be solid like a rock
to stand firm to stand strong
to show no fractured emotions
a rock solid philosophy
to weather all tests of time
to live righteous do no wrong
all people are imperfect
we may labour under misconceptions
work with inadequate data
to make the best decisions
even wise decisions
lacking understanding a complete picture
but we can strive to live righteous do no wrong

These sentiments are important, especially in this age where adversity is everywhere. To my favorites for when I need reminding.
