A Modern Love Story Poem by Susan Williams

A Modern Love Story

Rating: 5.0

.
She eats apples. He eats bread.
This makes his face grow red.
She eats bread. He eats bread.
Even this makes his face grow red.
She once was a happy girl. He was once a happy boy.
Let's sacrifice the bull, shall we?
She once was a happy girl. Happy he never was.
Now she is a parrot nodding her head
Hopefully in time before his face grows red.

A Modern Love Story is the real title- PH wanted to jam the words together and while changing it in some places, it refuses to change it here. But then again, some day I will return to it and they will have restored its original title. Sigh.

They finally fixed the title- -but now I look silly for complaining about a corrected title. Really and truly fir a while it read Amodernlovestory! ! !

When a man and a woman with different tastes come together in marriage, there is always the chance of quarrels and exchange of harsh words. The redness coming to the man's face is suggestive of anger and unpleasantness! To avoid a brawl, she turns into a parrot, not uttering anything, but nodding to his whims in a mechanical way. There is neither love nor life. You have cleverly drawn an impressive picture of modern love.
