A Guiding Light Poem by Joseph T. Renaldi

A Guiding Light

Rating: 5.0

I wish I could bestow upon the people of all nations
Happy hearts, security that peace brings,
Unity and harmony in all aspects of their life,
Respect and understanding for all lovely things.

Tolerance, whenever it is desperately needed
To lift a troubled mind and a broken heart,
These gifts I'd give to all the people in the world,
These things I'd willingly like to impart.

I'd let no positive dreams be shattered,
No ideals be discarded or trampled to the ground,
I'd teach all people faith in democracy -
With goodness and happiness their lives I'd surround.

I'd tell them that peace means loving and respect,
And their presence on earth is worthy and strong.
I'd assure them that the principles of freedom and liberty
Shall be a guiding light their entire life long.

What a strong, beautiful poem. If we were all a light to each other what a different world it would be. Take care. Kindest regards, Sandra
