Confined for reasons
Other than credit card dues
Forced to flip-flop o’er floor & spice
Confined to messages and ringing notes
from Ma Bell
I felt soft winds push windows aside.
And then when quite descended
A well groomed flower stuck its neck inside
Smiley yellow nestling amidst brown & green
Seemingly posed a question like a queen
Asking, what made me sheep-like inside
And soon she bade me take a step outside
With spade & plow to work again with pride
Rake weeding gloom from deep inside.
I came back to look at my sunshine friend
Now aged & truly bent
Resting content on my window sill
Work done, debt paid, life lived, lamp lit
Before it passed into the advancing night.
