A Day To Remember Only By The Self Poem by Rimni chakravarty

A Day To Remember Only By The Self

Birthdays happen to be a special occasion
To some a day for celebration;
To some a day to take some resolution
While to other few a day to journey within the heart.
For me birthdays were special s a child
When I waited my parents would run wild
With joy they would focus their attention on me
With a smile I could see
My school friends bringing cards and cassettes for me
It was then a time to dream
A time to grow as a lady
Where love poured out from the heart for everybody
This heart knew not of jealousy, rivalry, competition, hatred
Always the mind wanted to do something great
Yes Mother Teresa was then our living legend
And we Nandini, Sakhi, Nilanjana, Barnali, Illika, Sangeeta Subhalakhmi Mahua, , Mitra and the name goes on unending
Would love to sing to Her glory
Inspired by her story
We loved to be in our school on Saturdaysfor community service program
No complains to avail the public bus rather a fun to clean our garden
The days of St.Josephs were really a paradise on earth.
We all were so close no social media to wish happy birthday
Rather made our presence felt in restaurants
We were happy with our food items that costs very small
But our love for each other was all
Now days have passed
Birthdays have no special feeling to me
This day is same as any other should be
Messages pour wishing me from near and far
Lookingat their message I wonder
What is the specialty of the day?
Who am I and what have got to say?
What have I done and what could have to be done?
if life is a game then what game have I won?
Nothing is the answer.Nothing willstill be the answer
When it will be time to cross the bar
Although messages pour from known and unknown
I know all is customary, all is temporary
All is a flickering moment that will slip away soon
Wish I could make use of the boon
That I received in arriving here on earth
God how to make use of my birth?
