A Christmas Incident Poem by Dee Corpolongo

A Christmas Incident

Rating: 5.0

As I awoke this morning
an incident was on my mind
it happened many years ago
and of the strangest kind.

While X-mas shopping at the mall
a big purchase made @ The Gap
afterward we tried on some jackets
then decided to call it a rap

I went to pick up my purchases
that I laid neatly on the floor
I could not find them anywhere
as if they walked out the door

I panicked and called security
He suggested I notify the store
they listed all the contents bought
and said they could do no more

I went home and felt so empty
knowing I spent all the money I had
this was gonna be a black Christmas
How could it turn out so bad?

On X-mas eve as I was cooking
the phone rang and my voice did crack
A worker from The Gap had called
saying they got my purchases back

The ones who stole my bags that day
had attempted to return them all
and when the contents matched my list
it was then they decided to call

To me it was more than a miracle
to have everything bought under the tree
I felt so grateful and so lucky
a wonderful Christmas it turned out to be!

.........(....and thank you Lord!)

Truly a great Christmas blessing. This time it wasn't the Grinch that stole Christmas it was the thieves. A very well put together poem with lots of feelings that touches the heart. Just lovely.
