254. My Dear Daddy! Poem by Dipankar Sadhukhan

254. My Dear Daddy!

Rating: 5.0

O my dearest Daddy!
I have just reached eighteen.
Today I am a mature girl.
I searched you day after day,
Month after month
And year after year
But I didn't find you.
Perhaps my hope and dream
Of meeting you have made me
So mature and adult.

My mom has taught me
Her best since my childhood.
Again and again I uttered your name.
I could not call up you
As I was only two years old
When you met me for the last time.
My mom told me this whenever I asked her.
My friends asked me so many times
If I had ever met you in the past
Or you would come to meet me.

From mother and others
I have heard so many times -
You are now a great author.
On hearing this I felt proud of you.
I read your poems again and again
And tear rolls down from my eyes.
Sometimes I do think
Why I have been deprived
Of your love and affection,
Guidance and teaching.

Today I am mature and free -
Free to think, free to take a decision.
I don't know where you are now.
I feel my mother's suffering.
I don't know why you got separated
From my dear mother.
I am not a poet, not an author.
I love you, my dearest papa!
If you read my verse, please meet me.
I need your blessing to be a true person.

Father is a nice author. Mother's advice place nice role in Child's development. A grown up child is free to think and decide. Remembering father and having love and respect for him we feel great. This is a nice tribute to your father too....10
