PHIL WINTER Poems

Speak out against the wrongs!
Speak out and break the silence!
Silence is for those
Whom the hand of death has touched,
...

To be born
And breathe of life
Is a journey you have started.
...

Meditating
In the still of night
He transcended space and years
And surmounted unimaginable heights
...

They crowd my dreams each night
Faces of strange men
Who passed this way before
Fired with zeal
...

They come to the world with nothing
Parents forsake them
They are left to wander
And death for them is the answer!
...

How long must the corrupt
And power hungry prevail?
How long must they exist
Breaking heart, spirit and will?
...

Christmas remembers God's only son
Christmas is a sacred season
Some countries have grand festivities
Adults and children enjoy the activities.
...

Standing at the cross roads
I look upon the lesser species with envy.
They come into the world
Exist, procreate and die without fuss.
...

</>Human vultures parading this space
Death at their side,
Death in their stride.
Vultures here, vultures everywhere!
...

On the damp sand
At the edge of the beach
The one whom je paid
For the night's pleasure
...

Christmas commemorates Jesus' birth
Christmas is the season for peace on earth
Christmas is a time for loving and forgiving
Christmas is a time for caring and sharing
...

The poor,
Devoid of hope, they copulate
And overpopulate the world.
Their birth - an outright mockery
...

Hear this friends, hear this!
Just one mistake
is all it will take
To make you a casualty
...

Some live in houses
Like mansions in the square
Some crawl nightly
Under tents of cardboard
...

Being a victim
Of his emotions
People and places and things
Affect him deeply.
...

16.

My love,
I cannot say why death did come
And cause us to be parted
For now that you have gone beyond
...

Restless spirits hover
Forming mountains in the skies
They cannot tell the time
They're searching for a home.
...

</>Must there be another day of fear and distress?
Must there be no peace! no hope! no happiness?
Must there be cries of no milk! no bread! no meat?
Must hunger pervade evry street?
...

My spirit sank below the earth
As if it had been sleeping
And waited with a thirsty heart
To know just what was dying.
...

Unfailing sting of death
Ruler of passion and whim
Men must obey you
When you have settled

Break The Silence

Speak out against the wrongs!
Speak out and break the silence!
Silence is for those
Whom the hand of death has touched,
Closing off their earthly span,
Robbing them of human thought,
Taking away their winning gift of speech,
Stripping them of hopes and dreams.
Ask them no questions
They cannot respond!
Chide them not,
They cannot defend!
Dumbfounded, expressionless, lost,
They float about
With voices that cannot sing!
Voices that cannot even speak!
For them silence has become the norm!
But we who are alive
We have the voice
We must break the silence
And speak out against the wrongs!
