She looked upon the dreary world,
Into the shadows of the night
The people asked her to look further more
But she told them she saw a beautiful sight
...

And at night we light the earth like little christmas trees
each tower, lamp, lighthouse seen
from space a distant reverie
if only
...

Ah, and this is not the waiting game,
I will not wait for you in the eves
Of trees we once played in
On empty swings
...

You died before I lived
I think I've missed you every day that I have
You taught me one great lesson baby
But I'd rather have you than it.
...

Why do poets so often dream of death,
And face it so unafriad.
Is it because they know so greatly of life,
And what passes us each day?
...

My hands are shaking, feet tapping, heart pounding
My minds racing, reeling, never relenting
Everything gets to me.
Everything.
...

drink the amber tea,
let it seep through your sleek feathers
and remember
what you do now only matters in halves

I watch the seconds tick by
And the minutes are the same but the hour hands point to different numbers
And I go around the circle and I count them one by one
I watch as that little red dial moves between them but never closes the distance.

Misinterpretation

She looked upon the dreary world,
Into the shadows of the night
The people asked her to look further more
But she told them she saw a beautiful sight
They asked her to open her eyes
So she blinked once, twice, and again
And by the third time she opened her eyes,
She saw an ignorant and awful trend
For the people surrounding her in this world
Were so close minded, which made them all so weak
Because what she saw in front of her
Was so beautiful she could hardly speak
She asked once more what kind of creatures they were,
To not see the beauty right in front of their eyes.
Then turned around to see them all staring with great surprise
For never had anyone ever questioned their authority
Like that in these heinous times
She sadly turned away and realized,
This was a world full of lies.
And so through the darkness all they could see was what they were taught they should feel
Through it all they could not see the wonder of what was truly real
“Now I ask of you, ” she said, “as you did of me before,
Open your eyes and see what there is to explore
Experience new things again, and learn for yourself once more
For if you only know of what others teach you,
What the hell are you living for? ”
