Michael Eyre Poems

I wish I could write a love poem
That makes you laugh and cry.
I'd fill it with sweet imagery,

'Who says I've made the grade? '
'I surely need the right degree,

I Wish

I wish I could write a love poem
That makes you laugh and cry.
I'd fill it with sweet imagery,
But good words are hard to come by.

I'd start by saying something smart,
Like 'You're my favourite book,
I'd read you again and again, '
Or some other gobbledygook.

Through my words, you'd live forever,
You'd be immortalised.
Your golden hair, your rosy lips,
Each single breath I've idolised.

And when it was done I'd recite it,
While lying in our bed,
And I'd caress you, like I do,
From perfect toes to perfect head.

I wish I could write a love poem,
But good words are hard to come by.
