You Shout At Me Poem by Alan Paul Stevens

You Shout At Me

You shout at me
But I am not listening

Surrounded by noise
Flowing water
Leaking tap
Dripping pipe
Hammering
Nails being driven in

All I can hear is my heartbeat
My spirit
My emptiness
My connection
My breathing

Your life in me

Why does my body war against me?
Why does my soul struggle?
Where is peace?

Close my eyes
Rest my anxious soul
Let me drift in your presence

You are my hope
My Rest
My shelter
