Wonder Blanket Poem by Adrian Antique

Wonder Blanket

There are times at night
When I check you sleeping,
I turn on the light …
And over the purple, i see you smiling.

Your eyes softly close,
Arms around your pillow, hugging …
I suddenly see what matters most -
Like fireflies in velvet, shining.

Years of sweat and tears mingling,
So many roads with countless puddles …
Sometimes running across a bridge hanging
Yet, always dancing with our water sparkles.

All of these curled up covered by a mantle,
A cloth of warmth and memories …
Like a lily on a pool inside our castle …
Like a slumbering book of histories.

You hold the fabric of our travels -
days when love was sung then swiftly lost,
when laughter often sounded like distant bells
and we climbed mountains unmindful of the cost.

So, dream on my prince and only treasure …
Find magic within your sea of violet.
Embrace the cloth woven with adventure -
Kiss every sunrise and paint your own sunset.

Seeing my son all grown up yet quietly sleeping with his purple blanket around him, moved me to wonder.
