Winning The Election, Losing The Planet Poem by michael spangenberg

Winning The Election, Losing The Planet

Rating: 4.0

Peabody Energy is the largest coal company in the world
It's also bankrupt, this past April
The company filed for Chapter 11.

On the news of Donald Trump's victory, Peabody's stock
Surged almost fifty per cent. That one figure speaks volumes
— and forests and coral reefs and coastal cities. For the planet, the Stakes in the election were enormous— unthinkably large.

Climate change's a cheap hoax invented by the Chinese
Trump would cancel the international climate treaty negotiated last year In Paris; he promised to maximize the carbon emissions from power Plants, and abolish the EPA, what they do is a disgrace.

How many of these things can Trump actually do?
The answer is: More than you might think
Certainly more than you'd hope.

An argument can be made that the planet will be damaged
beyond repair by the Trump administration
The fate of the planet was decided on 11/8
Vitriolic spill overs for the rest of the world
Never mind, America's great again
By taking our blue planet for a ride.

All the Paris gentleman's agreement did
was slow down the race toward strait planetary disaster
First and foremost for the less wealthy countries
While the perpetrator's perfecting the art of climate injustice
With a dazzling kinda devilish smile, Hate-Trumps-Life.

Responsible citizens just lost the battle against climate change
Companies like Peabody Coal will be the ones to profit big
In hundreds of years, the impacts of the fossil fuels that
Trump is now going to Bern will still be playing out.

A feirce golden Eagle is flying over Manhattan Trump Tower
Turning into an ugly black crow, shot down - No fly zone.

Trump Wins The Election, We Lose The Planet.

True, my friend and foe, Alighieri Dante already knew that purgatory (Stalin) and Hell (Hitler) are slightly worse.

You have put points clear... The day is very crucial... thanks for giving insights on changes that would happen to climate on Trump's victory....
