Why Golf Isn't A Sport Poem by D.N. Rebb

Why Golf Isn't A Sport

Rating: 5.0

A sport requires an offence
And an elaborate defence
There's always a winner
A loss to consider
You certainly don't need a team
As the model of tennis deems
Even chess is reasoned a game
Though playing alone, what a shame
Hence, this board has more of a place
Than that meadow strolling ball chase
Like in cards, the game of solitaire
Golfers don't really need to be paired
The devil's advocate is the wind
Or the bumps in the ground the ball skimmed
Yet the breeze nor the jolts can't win
So is golf really a sport then?
