Why Do Leaves Fall Off A Tree In Autumn? Poem by Dr John Celes

Why Do Leaves Fall Off A Tree In Autumn?

The old order must give in to the new;
The older leaves must be shed when it’s due;
The changing colors mark the leaves those aged;
They’ve done their duty, many battles waged.

The tree must lose its bulk of aged leaves;
The autumn wind sways branches and tree heaves;
The withered leaves have served their purpose well;
They rustle in the breeze and heaps will tell.

The branches, twigs are grooming, spick and span,
As ripened fruits and nuts are plucked by man!
The young must take over the place of old,
As new green leaves replace the brown and gold!
