Why Africa? Poem by Benjamin Icon Ede

Why Africa?

From atop Egyptian pyramids,
Thy luminous beams
Adorn faraway realms;
Lands beyond seas,
Minds across oceans and hills-
Why blind?
Why dark?
Why lack?

Oh, thou cloud tha rains-
Rain like perspiration from thy brow-
That, that rejuvinate the farrow,
Bloom the bud of tomorrow,
Thou dark soil where buried is gold;
Dark skin whence strength unfold
Why dark?
Why lack?
