Who Can Contain The World Its Bitter Seas

Who can contain the world its bitter seas
Its sudden shipwrecks and its great unease
Not one of us
Who understands how not to be engulfed by it
But for the grace of Christ
Who understood it all
The loss of Eden
And the poet scrawl
Lamenting it forever;
But finding still
In all of nature
A healing will
And wells of beauty not dried up.
Oh for our sakes he drained a bitter cup
The bitterness of it all
And death was overcome
Then for us all
And our inheritance set right.
And all the spangled beauty of the starry night
REJOICE!
