White Pearls Like Tears Fall Poem by Paul Brookes

White Pearls Like Tears Fall

Arriving on stars, she whispers roiling suns,
so glide, ride, slide she's the on move.
where the white brides were ready waiting in line,
seven sisters rocking to the coast and you.
ah you, bright comet, were their leader
sassy in curls, rock chick with some chiffon style,
a chic high priestess in vouge and kohl so cool.

maybe, we wondered, were you real
with emerald eyes and lips of vanilla essence.
like candles we burnt from the middle out.
you laughing all the time as the boys fell at your feet,
their sacrifices your due, cutting deep with a crescent moon.

in the end you fled crossing oceans,
leaving behind broken hearts.
ah, but then that's what you've always done.
a look but don't touch girl as modesty becomes her,
she sleeps alone her purity unsullied in diamond nights
her pale face looking down.
