While Waiting For Happiness Poem by manaswini dash

While Waiting For Happiness

While I was waiting for an enchanting happiness
you have loaded sorrow and pain on me in tons and tons
on my half paralytic shoulder so mercilessly-
my sufferings multiply thousand times and make me cry
A feel of uneasiness almost makes me cripple.
my physical shape soon transferred to became gristle.
Being completely immersed in my despair
My two poor hands were too weak to work in pair
To their negative response I gave a big nod
When they expressed their inability to keep aside the load
Meanwhile my condition started deteriorating
With the unremitting pressure of pain increasing
It create in me a heavy suffocation
At that moment you were magnanimous enough to allow me a boon
From your folded palms a streak of happiness dropped for me.
On those huge heap of pain and sorrow - what an irony!
How can a thin thread like happiness so weak and feeble,
Like a mouse can dig a hole to crawl?
So that at last it can touch me.
And I can have its warmth as my fee
Thus, neither the happiness nor could I see each other.
Long long days passed in-vain for fulfilling our desire.
But still with a hope to meet and greet happiness,
I marched forward though my endeavour was hopeless
I got squeezed with my increasing load of sorrow and pain
For which I slowly go on sinking down and down again.
At last I was compelled to say a big goodbye
And happiness remain far and far away from me.
