We Have Seen Sad And Strange Days Poem by Hebert Logerie

We Have Seen Sad And Strange Days

We have seen sad and strange days
That we don't want to think about
We have seen somber and sour days
That we don't want to talk about
Many people died senselessly
During the pandemic highs in New York City
Minorities, I mean Blacks and Browns
Had perished like frowned clowns
Who had drowned when the Titanic had sunk
People died lonely with collapsed lungs, out
Of breath, like cute abandoned cats in the trunk
Of a car on a sunny day. Many patients fought
With all their might, struggled, suffered and died
Sadly, we lost friends, others lost family members
Due to the incompetence of the authorities
We felt the pain, the worries and the anxieties
We wonder who'd be the next survivors
Or who wouldn't make it the next day, week
Or month. We were very unhappy and weak
Morale was obviously low; death was around
The corner. It was too early to be in the ground
To depart prematurely before our natural time
An unnatural death should be considered a crime
We wonder who'd have enough strength to press charges
Even the Police were dying.People died at different stages
We have seen sad and somber days
We have seen strange and sour days
Thus far, over two hundred thousand innocent souls are gone
Many more will die soon if new policies are not implemented
Wearing a mask, wash hands and be six feet apart as warranted
The deadly pandemic is not over. Be safe. No, it is not done
Only fools do not want to follow the strict guidelines set by the CDC
Only fools want to try their luck to test the depth of the raging sea.
