We Can Do It... Poem by Veeraiyah Subbulakshmi

We Can Do It...

Rating: 5.0

When telling of lies make someone happy, let us lie,
When speaking of truth hurt someone, let us lie,
When the spouse asks us to assess, let us lie,
When the friends pester for opinion, let us lie,
When the boss arrives in shabby face, let us lie,
When the wife cooks our food and asks us to taste,
Then eagerly waits for our answers, let us lie,
When the husband speaks about his adventures,
In unknown manly languages, let us act and lie.
When the old parents talk about their vibrant health,
When the young children show their tiny biceps,
Let us lie. harmless lies should be told. let us lie.

Great point. But when we lie, we tend to fall in deeper traps later down the road.

You are absolutely at your simple philosophic best.... A sweet lie is better than a bitter truth ever.

Sweet little white lie may feel comfortable sometimes, but telling truth in softest way without hurting, with support and love may help we try to communicate and share understanding more, or sometimes better we smile without lie or words...as quiet make things go no wrong remarks_Soul

A girl with acne can still be pretty in many ways 'like moon'. Yes, you are right and we have to say lies like this to make people happy. when we are used to these kind of expression or lies, we are unable to differentiate between the truth and the lies, so sometimes lies seem to be real. Your opinion is appreciated and I sincerly thank you for your comments Dear friends!

I don't think lies are harmless or make life simple. A girl with acne can still be pretty in many ways like moon with scars but to say that she has no acne is sure no help. As for poetry we all love to hear praise and those perfect 10 and hope that nobody has lied about it! As for me I love your poetry, mostly with perfect 10.

actually this poem is very simple, in which I try to say that harmless lies can be told.1. When a teen aged girl with the face affected with acne, asks me whether she looks pretty or not, I will certainly say that she looks beautiful, though I know that it is a lie, but that lie may make that depressed girl to be happy for a while.

what lie can we say about anyone's poetry, when this work is open to the learned as well as the ordinary men? If we choose to say something extraordinary and out of context to the poem, it amounts to spoil our own credibility, So in the literary world, such incident should not occur for what ever reason. I would be sad if you lied to me about my poetry, TAR. I hope that you had never done that to me! Anyway thank you for your enquiy..
