Wanting You Poem by John Yaws

Wanting You

I know that I could love you-
And you could love me, too.
I sense it every single time,
That I am close to you.

My words just seem to resonate-
I see it in your eyes…
I sense it when our hands touch-
But sadly realize…

That this love of ours can never be-
We're star-crossed; there's no doubt!
You're in a place I can't get in-
Only death can get you out.

Forgive me for my dreaming-
You join me every night…
In dreams of love that cannot be-
That vanish with the light.

It may mean nothing to you-
I have to doubt that's true…
Go to your grave, desiring me-
I will live on... wanting you.
