Vicar's Niece Poem by Colin Ian Jeffery

Vicar's Niece

Rating: 5.0

(for PJD)

Elderly vicar, shepherd to his flock, caring for souls
Living with wife and daughter, daily doing his best
Helping community, spreading love of God.
Since death of his parents with no communication
Between him and his two sisters and their families
Which he did not understand and gave much heartache.
There came a phone call from the older sister
Saying her daughter, mother of three, was dying of cancer
And on her deathbed asking to see her uncle.
He rushed to his niece who wanted advice and help
Arranging her funeral service with cremation.
Her parents too overwhelmed with grief to manage.
The vicar, graceful soul, carried out his niece's wishes
Comforted her family giving them hope of Heaven.

I think there is no big ego than the love of near and dear ones. A very sentimental poem. Full of meaning.
