Twenty First Century Love Poem by Kevin J. Muricio

Twenty First Century Love

Twenty first century!
The time of our lives
They say true-love was truncated
And so it is
What remains is love
The one that throttles you
So that you die feeling the pain

True-love is gone with the wind
No phrase can bring it back
No way your girl a trophy
No way your boy a shield
They are there for a time
By grasp of hair, they are gone
And you cling to their image

Love starts at puberty
The phone, the social sites
We text to each other sweet nothings
And in them nothing is sweet
For they are short-lived
I pull the wool over your eyes
By giving you gifts to enjoy

Sharing is not so bad
As long as I have two more
Oh love so cheap!
I break your leg
Just for the penny I gave
You also don't care
For atleast you'll survive

Letters are now gone
And the texts have no salutes
No need of flowers
For the cards appeal more
You keep the smile
But those are not my words
I only bought the words!

The love vibes on the internet
No need to think
So when you try to resist;
Av got something to shut you
When you behave kiddishly;
I have something to make you cry
Just try the flavour!

Who cares for marriage!
Next time I might get a better one
So I love you with my brain
For my heart may feel pain
I don't need kids
So your pregnancy take away
I may not be the cause!

Oh, and you carry the poison!
You threaten to die
You kill yourself;
While am taking wine
It's like you never existed
After your burial
Am two weeks in another love
