Traveller's Memories Poem by Janet Mary Zylstra

Traveller's Memories

Rating: 5.0

Dreams - dreams - dreams
Of faraway lands and faraway places,
Strange, foreign names and strange, foreign faces;
Dreams of the sea and dreams of the ocean
Flowing and ebbing - always in motion;
Dreams of the feel of the ship as she rumbles
And rolls as the water against her bow stumbles;
Dreams of the tropics and dreams of the islands,
The cold North Atlantic and ice floes like diamonds;
Dreams of the smell of the sea's salty air,
Of the gulls and the albatross hovering there.

Close your eyes and relax, alone with your privacy
And you will be there on the wings of your fantasy.
