Train Of Pain Poem by Robert Peacock

Train Of Pain

She was born an Orphan
On a Hot July Day
A new young family
Came and took her away

Her Dad was a Doctor
Her future looked so bright
But he left with a Ballerina
In a desperate plight

So she took her heart
And she locked it away
In an unreachable place
Was where it would stay

I remember when we met
Her beauty lit up the room
Like a moth to a flame
My heart was headed for doom

Then I became a rider
On her train of pain
Just another poor soul
To absorb some of the blame

But the seat I occupied
Was rented and not bought
I just kept it warm
Until the next rider was caught

Then one day
When the game had run its course
I was thrown off the caboose
In a show of force

And even though my body
Was thrown onto the track
My heart was on the train
And it’s never coming back

She will conduct you then deduct you
While you pay her fee
Once you’ve boarded this train
It’s too late to flee

So I’m still a rider
On her train of pain
