To My Native Land

To My Native Land
SHAKIL AHMED

Barak is a valley of river Barak
Through its heart river puts its mark
Within the crescent of its pleasant land
Hindus and Muslims live hand in hand

Tea gardens with its panoramic view
Have made it full with hue
When budding leaves spread its elegance
We enjoy the beauty with its magnificence
It's leaves are green, it's people are clean
Such heavenly beauty is not always seen
Gardens, with its land, soft and hard
Compelled Anand to write ‘Two Leaves and a Bud'.

Valley is full of life's comfortable hues
Totally wrapped with seamless views
Nature, with its extrinsic passion, beckons everyone
To come, live and make fun.
Solid land, leaping through flowery wood
Is a generous gift divinely bestowed.
People don't forget the beauty of its fountain
In the foothills of lovely blue mountain
Borail has adorned the beauty of the land
Its green wood's have made it grand.

Mountain brooks, with its crystalline water,
Give solace to the mind of the visitor.
When water shines with glittering sunlight
Our hearts fill with celestial delight.
Barak becomes queen in moonlit nights
And Heaven gets jealous, on seeing its sights
Blessings spread around like a sea
Penetrate into the heart with glee
People call it a silent valley or an isle of peace
But undoubtedly it is gifted with heavenly bliss.

Sometimes pain and agony make life dark
Yet I feel proud, being a son of Barak
Barak has given me much and helped me bloom,
So I never forget, even when I fall in gloom
I feel Barak in my pulse and heart
I will remember Barak even when I will depart.
In dooms day, I will ask for a heaven
Just like Barak, and I hope I will be given.

a poem of love and respect, affection and devotion to the native locale; though not of any global appeal depicted, the intimate intention is laudable. may your wish be granted by the Lord of the worlds. rgds
