To Love And Live Poem by Hazel Durham

To Love And Live

Rating: 4.5

The panoramic sweep of my emotional landscape,
Mountains, valleys, forests and seascapes
Always in the background of my volcanic past,
My journey of coastal scenes and inland views

Made me survive even though I was always last
In trying to live, to feel and to heal,
I always had felt I had the least appeal
With my battered and bruised heart,

I was disabled emotionally, my weakest part
To withstand the force of the past,
You, my love see me only with loving eyes,
That soothe my weariness and the destructive lies,

That forced me into a maze with no way out,
All I could do was shout
For peace, love and acceptance
Then my love you gave me romance,

No more lonely dance,
Just a complete beauty when last became first
You gave me romance and all you wanted was a chance
I find in your eyes a new me,

A beginning to love and live,
To give
And to forgive
Is a reason to start to live.

I love the imagery with which you started the poem: it has a poetic force which prepares the reader for an emotional adventure. I must admit, numerous times I have found myself completely relating to your poems; there is that ''something'' which probably, reflects my subconsciousness: that feminine, emotional aspect of being a sensitive woman. Thank you, I love this poem!

Oh, my dear, I am glad love has found you and is giving ease to your heart and joy to your days. But it is sad to think there are those who never feel it and those who never give it. I cannot imagine the dreariness of a life that never finds it- what a blessing that you are now wrapped up in romance and tenderness of love.

You have vented your emotions so poetically here! The first stanza couldn't be more appropriate, and the last, more convincing. The poem has an appropriate title too. I liked the readers' comments too, particularly of Valsa George, Susan Williams and Mihaela Pirjol.
