Thought's Water Flows Into Germinal Forms Poem by Denis Mair

Thought's Water Flows Into Germinal Forms

Rating: 5.0

To restore fluidity to thought
requires the transporting currents of an atmosphere
and the givingness of rain clouds.
Fluid thought enters into all that grows.

A single metaphor may parody one leap of thought
but thought's workings are only at home
in a natural system of metaphors.
Without them thought would be the face of a dune
but with them, it entwines reality's fabric.

In thought I also feel a need for animal personae
for it to flow in a polyphony of viewpoints;
To dance within masks of them, feeling a distant kinship
is to know Man's place in Creation.

Water of thought is forever flowing
into the germinal forms of growing things
and each thing flows
from the thought of itself.
