This Would Be A Lie Poem by Francis Duggan

This Would Be A Lie

For many years i have been a rhyming buff
One of those who has written a whole heap of stuff
Others far more worthy of literary note
Though as a young man i did dream of becoming a poet
But what i did hope for i did not realize
Since the cream to the top of the milk always rise
And though my best years in life in the forever gone
My rhyming addiction keeps me rhyming on
On saying writers are many but good writers are few
I am not saying anything in any way that is new
Though one who is not to the literary fore
I just enjoy writing rhymes and little else more
And i hope to be rhyming until the day i do die
If i did tell you different this would be a lie.
