Hindi Poem by: Sarweshwar Dayal Saxena
Translated by : C.P. Ravikumar
The wolf's eyes are a shining red.
Stare into them until
The red flows into your eyes.
It's no use running away scared,
For you will find the wolf
Standing within your self;
For even if you survive,
Wolves will come again;
Or one day, suddenly,
Someone among you might turn into a wolf
And his kind begin to multiply.
Do you see,
The coming of the wolf
Is a necessary evil,
For you to realize your self,
To feel courage pulsing in your veins,
To learn to pick up the torch.
History will stay alive.
The wolf will be kicked out of the herd
Everytime. And Man will stand up boldly,
Torch in hand.
History will stay alive,
And so will you.
But the wolf?
