The Winter Garden Poem by David Wood

The Winter Garden

Rating: 5.0

The garden looks a bit of a mess
And needs some gentle loving care
It is something I must now address
As winter leaves it cold and bare.

The flowers have all done their best,
The Brussels sprouts are now all gone
Now the garden must take it's winter rest
It's something I now have to work-on.

The grass now looks a bit forlorn
And the hedge has seen better days
The vegetable nets are all but torn
It's all suffering from some malaise.

Oh it's such a cold thankless task
But the garden is my little plot
Providing vegetables is all I ask
Where nothing ever goes to rot.

So, knuckle down and get the job done
Plant next years crops with cheer
Winter's course will soon be run
And spring will very soon be here!
