The Unknown Gunmen. Poem by Monkals Kalu

The Unknown Gunmen.

Here in my closet,
Questions are not
Enough daily meal.

A Nation's spirit
Has gone so dusky
That guns and bombs
Now bell doleful sounds
On our peaceful existence.

Yet, these Gunmen are Unknown,
And their Government, also Unknown;

These Drummers of war,
Generously, have shared
Guns and bombs to clueless
Zombies, who pride themselves
As Bandits, parading invincibly,
Before the anemic eyes of our Laws.

Yet, these Gunmen are Unknown,
And their Government, also Unknown;

Elsewhere, a citizen's
Life is such a treasure,
But here, a citizen's life
Has never been a pleasure,
As he fears the gunmen's cap.

Yet, these Gunmen are Unknown,
And their Government, also Unknown;

Their families merry
And feed on fat cows;
Not the Cows helped by
Armed Herders to graze
And destroy our farmlands,
But the ones ranched abroad,
Where their loots find succour.

Yet, these Gunmen are Unknown,
And their Sponsors also Unknown;

So here in my closet,
I cogitate in pains,
And I ask my TV set,
Would we ever see the faces
Of these Unknown Gunmen?
