The Toilet Lid Poem by Mike Berriman

The Toilet Lid

The lid on the toilet now sits vertical to the pan
A habit sometimes female, but more often in a man
But why have a toilet lid that's open this way all day
They don't know any better, it's an old folks way.

With the lid always open, one less function to perform
A bad habit maybe, and nigh impossible to reform
A quick glance to examine, to see what's on deposit
Funny habits we cultivate with our private water closet.

Some lavatories carry messages in the form of printed prose
Others have reminders that are directed at the nose
I prefer a clean dunny, flushed scrubbed and neat
A toilet pristine and sealed, with the lid closed upon the seat.

I totally agree with your last sentence: I prefer a clean dunny, flushed scrubbed and neat A toilet pristine and sealed, with the lid closed upon the seat. Well done.
