The Reason I Was Born Poem by Dhiren Doley

The Reason I Was Born

Somewhere in a corner of the time
When the sun was about to kiss the shy moon
And all the rivers were entreating the sea
For a place in her bosom
When all the stars were nearly hiding
Behind the beauty of the light
And clouds were beginning to spread like a net
As if they can help to asteroids from falling
There was wall between silence and sounds
Miles from pain to smiles
And after a moment's struggle
They declared my coming to the world!
Throughout my journey along happiness and sorrows
I have been asking everyone "Why was I born? "
Neither day answers
Nor the night does
One day,
When the wind was cottony soft
And the woods were dangling
When no was planning to stitch her nest
Nor anyone thinking about the ensuing night
Like a morning star, twinkling, dangling
You appeared and whispered in my ear
Was it a song? Or a careless whisper?
I remember none
But I realised the first time
I was indeed born to love you
You alone
