The Ocean Poem by Rita Shay

The Ocean

The ocean’s great icy waves swelled on that gray barely morning day.
And there was she.
Sweet little thing, barely knee deep in the water of deep gray, blues, and black green.
She had come outside knowing full well that only she would be out today
When the once sunny beach had become nothing put a fading half asleep dream.
She rested those little hands of hers on the top of the water, so dark against her pale fingers.
Gently the ocean swayed as she felt the heart swell up and then down.
Her fingers were pushed as she surrendered to the pulse, wanting so much so to keep up with its beat.
