The Night Visitors Poem by Benjamin Chiu Uy

The Night Visitors

The Night Visitors,

these nightmares becoming real,
hibernating disturbance process,

The first intrepid fighter resembling Melville,
battling giant whale,
unleashing his sharp harpoons,

World needs champions and heroes,
consulting lips with the gods,

World needs this lonely retainer,
as the first chapters,

Latelyit's the man overboards,
throwntothe sea,
the losing strength,
the beginning of weakness,

It's been seventysince life entrusts these powers,
Now comes the perfect storm,
recapitulatingthe end of the world,

a mockery of your own immortal love,
enduring as a nightly coward,

The child shedding the old man's eyes,
from visions of hell,
emulating,
justifying the invasions,
the nightly visitors from hell.
