The Lonely Man Poem by Simon Gowen

The Lonely Man

Rating: 5.0

The lonely man knows lonely like no other
The lonely man greets solitude each day
The lonely man just wants to be a brother
So someone else can hear him when he says

I need you there to tell you that I love you
I need for you to miss me now and then
I need to know there's someone thinking of me
And I'll be there for you just tell me when

So lonely in his life he often wanders
His mind will often carry him away
But no ones there to share life when he travels
He's off to spend another lonely day.

So when you see him crumpled in a doorway
Just take a moment out and stop and think
The lonely man was once a son, a brother
Now all he has as company is drink

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Before going to bed, I saw an image on tv that seems to have stuck with me through the night. So it inspired me to write....The Lonely Man.

You know what? I still love how you introduce humor into your poems but I appreciate your seriousness just as much in some of them as well!
