The Hippopotamus Poem by Ogden Nash

The Hippopotamus

Rating: 3.4

Behold the hippopotamus!
We laugh at how he looks to us,
And yet in moments dank and grim,
I wonder how we look to him.

Peace, peace, thou hippopotamus!
We really look all right to us,
As you no doubt delight the eye
Of other hippopotami.

I'm planning to make a few more poems about animals. I might make a rhinoceros or elephant poem, so keep your eyes peeled!

You died in 1971 so please stay dead and quiet - for now.

Does anyone know if he wrote anything so " preoosteres" about a " rhinoceros" or elephants for that matter.

Oh, please. The reader completely blows it in the last line. Hippopotam-EYE.

One of my favorites! Nash always combines his wit with a real thought.
