The Have's And Have Not's Poem by Ray Hansell

The Have's And Have Not's

Always remember
All that you've got
Because there are so many
Who have not

They all struggle
Just to make ends meet
Just hoping each day
They have some food to eat

They hope the night
Won't be too cold
They have no heat
No hope to hold

Every day another test
Just trying to survive
Some days they are so numb
They don't know if they're alive

But they push on
Because they believe
That one day
They may achieve

So don't complain
Because of things you lack
At least you always have
A soft mattress under your back

Always remember
All that you've got
Don't forget those
Who have not

For one day
The tables could be turned
You may become a have not
With a hard lesson learned
