The Girl In The Red Hat Poem by TANIYA KUNDU

The cool wind blew around her deep, dark eyes,
Bringing with it, the scent of Autumn in the air,
Adorned with bewitched minds and quiet sighs,
The beauty of the Himalayas, seeking a maiden fair.

Basking in the buttery sunshine of sapphire skies,
Her heart yearns to reach out over the far horizon,
Far, far away, beyond the hills, where each day dies,
Only to rise above the ranges, to be new, to be born.

Pensive, she sits on a rock, carved by a thousand eons,
As the time flows in tangible ripples around the valley.
Her red hat casting shadows on her thought of beyonds,
A little red lily she blooms, seeking a wisdom eternally.

There amongst the silent guardians of this hidden world,
An epiphany runs through her mind, setting chasms aglow,
The bridges between reason and belief, thus lay unfurled,
An idea she let free, now takes shape, riparian in its flow.

Where do we come from, where do we go, its the question,
Unanswered, what is the purpose of life and death, why
Do we exist, why not live free, not prisoners in a bastion,
To look for happiness in the little things around, and fly.

Fly, fly high above the mountains green, soaring over the sun,
The whiff of pines, glistening of creeks, whispers in the wind.
Immersed in the beauty of this world, whilst time shall run,
Her soul imbibes the eternal truth, 'Believe, and you shall find.'
