The Gift (Translation From Russian) Poem by Galina Italyanskaya

The Gift (Translation From Russian)

The wind
Is driving flocks of leaves across the sky,
And naked branches are raised
Just like your arms.

So clear
A golden leaf is lying at your feet,
But then the grass is rough.

You're giving me
A bunch of dandelions
And saying: "Keep it safe!
Or I will die".

How can I carry
Your dear present to my place
In such a wind?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is my translation of the song "Podarok"(The Gift)by Evgeniy Klyachkin.
The original lyrics:

You're giving me A bunch of dandelions And saying: " Keep it safe! Or I will die" . How can I carry Your dear present to my place In such a wind? This is such a sad sad exchange between two friends..... but the poem is beautiful.
