The End My Friend Poem by soren Barrett

The End My Friend

I've seen the end my friend
Ridden a steam locomotive when it was not for tourists
Not seeing a person for weeks I've camped in virgin forests
I awoke at dawn and put my boots on
Fished in a lake with fish never planted
Drank its clear waters never decanted
Caught on a bare hook dozens I took
Walked streets with cowboys guns loaded
Seen TV come, technology outmoded
Too many people have come, friends have run
While the world shivers and shakes
Calmly death my bed makes
