The Eaton's Store And Its Closing Down

The Eaton's Store and its closing down
-Gayathri B. Seetharam
The Eaton's Store along with Hudson's Bay are Canada's very own chains
Having moved from the USA where I was the proud possessor of a J.C. Penney card
I fell in love with the woollen blankets Eaton's store had
For I love to swirl and swathe myself in my blanket
And it is all possible because I am of medium height;

During the days I used to cuddle up to my husband
The blanket used to be around myself
And television time became sleep time soon after
I fancy that there was the scent of Canadian"ness" to Eaton's
Because although I am a frequent shopper at the Hudson's Bay
I look back and feel that the smell of pine cones in the store and the texture
And the feel to these is reflected in the fact that it had more unusual fare
Like the Swarovski crystals and a simply unique party dress which I had worn
For my husband's company's Christmas party
With beautiful matching boots from the nearby Brown's;

I don't know of any store that does Swarovski crystal any more
And I must confess that my elder sister loved the crystal I presented her with
The cut of the crystal and the glint of colourful light at a certain angle
Represents my and Canada's crystal clear vision and crystal gaze
But this has been retained and manifested itself into a
Colourful vista of Canadian perspective both in a personal sense and global perspective
For PM Justin Trudeau is a feminist who has gender parity in his cabinet of ministers;

Eaton's Store represented with its wonderful baby's section also
A magical world for shoppers and window shoppers
A world which had beautiful craftsmanship and skillful artwork
In its goods and merchandise
And with the closing down of Eaton's
There ended an iconic Canadian entity.
