The Devastating Earth Quake Poem by Tulsi Shrestha

The Devastating Earth Quake

THE DEVASTATING EARTH QUAKE
The devasting fearful Saturday noon
Suddenly the earth trembled with anger
Clouds of darkness covered the horizon
Hundreds of birds filled the whole sky.

People rushed here and there towards open spaces
Some of them burried under collapsed structures.
Thousands of temples and buildings flattened into dust
Within a moment, the streets flooded with human blood.

The cliffs slid down destroying village beneath it
Streets exploded and cracked deep to swallow us
The snow mountain rushed towards base camps
Death, death, everywhere so fearful and painful.

The joyful cities transformed into funereal ground
Some lost their beloved while rest lost their children
Loss of lives, indeed fearful beyond our perception
The laments of victims cracked heart of sky.

The earth crumbled again and again
Along with the continuety of aftershocks
Those who alive got message of dsaster
We all shivered with fear of potantial death.

An extensive damage of property and uncompensable lives
Thousands injured and thousands lost their own lives
Death chased all of us as like our own shadows did
How can we believe now the ground beneath our feets?

Beneath the open sky, without tents and foods
We all struggled for shelter of our own lives
Some prayed with God while rest blamed Himself
Fear of death really killed ego that is inside human
Rich and poor slept together embracing each other.
