The Curse Of Mother Nature Poem by Sammy Aswani Luyove

The Curse Of Mother Nature

The rains are here, here to stay
Because we cursed the sun, just the other day;
For scotching our backs,
And making our skins pale and darker
And now we shall curse Mother Nature
For the tears she has poured on us:

Our muddy roads and walls will wash away
For poor drainage and marred maintenance way,
Our schooling kids will wade and wallow
Happily in the surface runoffs show,
Our cheap drunkards will drink the mucky water
To empty the streams, for them to cross over,
Our dating promises of swimming pools
Will come to pass as homes flood,
And so, we shall…the rains as we bury our dead.

But, the cause of rage of Mother Nature!
We have refused to love her,
We have refused to act for ourselves,
We have refused to install proper political policies,
We are lazy to prune the branch that doesn't yield
And uproot the poisoned roots of political ideologies,
We have refused to wisely vote for value,
And so, we shall curse our blessings
As we curse the rains.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
The alternating seasons of mother nature do not pardon the careless attitude of men towards the environment. Therefore, both rain and sunshine happen to the extreme end.
