The Bastards Apprentice Poem by Lee Boueri

The Bastards Apprentice

Rating: 5.0

I tried my best to understand
Values you profess
I measured your words against your deeds
To understand even less

'A man's word above all else'
'Help when someone's down '
All I heard were words that sting
and watched you help weak people drown

Man made laws mock justice more
and train those in the know
to duck and weave and finally score
and make their fortunes grow

'Feed the poor and heal the sick'
Noble goals you say
But you seem to choose and pick
on any given day

You've climber the ladder and worn the crown
leaving injured on the street
Demeaning people you've broken down
celebrating in their defeat

Should I turn a page and join the club?
Is it time to take my vows?
My values past, do I need to snub,
and bastardry espouse?

We thought life was tough 30 years ago. Though it is now so much harder. Cannot forget to just breathe. A lesson from experience.
