Texas Highways Xxvi Poem by Armadillo Poet

Texas Highways Xxvi

What is the legacy
Of the genocide
Of the wolf?

The winter swirl of feathers
Over trampled twigs and eggs

Tickles tusks and sticks to hooves.

Enemies brave and fertile
Charging, squealing,
Goring-

Feral boar-
Offending our sensibilities,
Are driven with the intent of extinction

Fleeing,
From the helicopter-hog-hunt.
