General Lee you fought on
The wrong side of the war
And that is why
America won't let your status
No longer stand

Another symbol coming down
Of what America used to be
The slave masters are gone
The slaves are set free

Your side lost
The other side won
The beautiful flag of freedom
It proudly waves
Happy just to say
A better day has come
