Sorry For Breaking Your Heart Poem by Sahil Sharifdin Bhat

Sorry For Breaking Your Heart

Rating: 5.0

I was told fairy tales,
I was taught lies at school,
I was preached old myths,
I was raised as a fool.

I see angel-faced devils
And thieves teaching honesty.
I see donkeys ruling lions
And pervs preaching modesty.

Here, oppression is called justice
Lust is thought to be love.
Wolves wander in sheeps' clothing
And cruel vulture is called dove.

Wealth is caste, creed, colour;
Wealth is neighbour, relative, friend;
Wealth is duty, passion, nation;
Wealth is marriage, love, boyfriend.

My rivals used foul means
And they reached heights great.
I kept believing in hard work,
Justice, honesty and fate.

There are indeed many religions,
There are indeed many ways,
The common God and goal is wealth
Which everyone everywhere prays.

Who says love runs the world?
Who says hard work brings success?
Why then millions die of hunger?
Why are labourers homeless?

Wealth buys the deepest love,
Wealth buys any kith and kin,
Wealth is an amazing magic wand,
It hides every fault and sin.

Babe, you look so attractive.
Yes, your love is true today.
But you will grow clever tomorrow
And ask me to go away.

Before you dump me mercilessly,
Before you break my loving heart,
I must grow rich and wealthy
Else, my world will fall apart.

Babe, I have many responsibilities,
Time for love, I have not.
Sorry for rejecting your feelings.
Sorry for breaking your heart.
